  Deputy Conductor
Michael Wyn Jones

Michael comes from the type of strong musical background you’d expect in Wales . As a schoolboy, he gained his ALCM in piano and was also an accomplished violinist, taking part in national and local youth orchestras.

Michael has continued this musicianship as a soloist and singer in a number of well respected choirs, and has been increasing his interest and skill in choral conducting. He has been a member of the BBC Symphony Chorus, the Exmoor Singers (winners of the Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year competition in 1998) and London Chamber Choir, Sounds Wicked. Michael studies Voice with Wynford Evans.

Michael brings significant experience, musical and vocal skills to his pursuit of choral conducting. In addition to these credentials, he has studied conducting at the “Academie International de Chant Choral” with John Poole (formerly Musical Director of the BBC Singers) and Stephen Jackson (Musical Director of the BBC Symphony Chorus) and has had private tuition with Tecwyn Evans (Chorus Master at Glyndebourne Opera).

Michael ’s conducting has taken him to many regions of the World. In 2005 he was appointed Musical Director of the London Welsh Rugby Club Choir, and has conducted them in the UK, Europe and beyond; including travelling to New Zealand with them for the British and Irish Lions Tour, and with tours to Spain, South Africa and New Zealand in the pipeline.
