June 13th
St Pauls' Church Wimbledon
We returned to St Pauls Church for a concert organised by one of our choristers, Chris Wright, who was so enthused by our last concert at the church that he joined the choir. He was lucky to jump in on a last minute cancellation to set up the concert in aid of the church and its community centre. For a smallish church the acoustics were superb and we all enjoyed singing to a packed house.
The soloists were local and the trio called Natural Blush delighted us with their a capella singing. The soprano Helena Raeburn sang a mixed bag of serious and humerous songs to great effect.
Dr Haydn James was the conductor in his last concert before he led the British and Irish Lions Choir to South Africa. Annabel Thwaite was the accompanist and Colin Jones the compere.
