Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff

Haydn James's final concert as Musical Director could not have gone any better . Singing as guests of the Cory Band,
conducted by their Director of Music Robert Childs, to a packed Millennium Centre. The concert was organised by Eiddwen Evans and will help fund the new Teenage cancer Trust Unit at the University Hospital of Wales
The choir and the band pulled out all the stops. The concert was one of many Sunday matinees that we have been involved with for the Teenage Cancer Trust but this was different in that we were singing on our own and accompanied by the superb talents of the Cory Band and our own accompanist Annabel Thwaite.
The Millennium Centre is a spectacular place to sing and the sound engineers worked hard to create a good balance between the band and the choir.
Frank Lincoln was the compere and held the concert together in his own casual and witty style.
The concert flew by from the opening 'Enter the Galaxies' by the band to a rousing joint performance of Finlandia.
The concert concluded with an emotional Welsh National Anthem, and we await October 2010 when the Cory Band again join us at the Biennial London Welsh Festival of Male Choirs at the Royal Albert Hall.
There will be a more formal farewell to Haydn James in early March at a dinner in London to mark the retirement of both Haydn James as Musical Director and Cliff Morgan as our President.
Our new Musical Director is Edward-Rhys Bate and our new President is Phillip Madoc.
