June 12th
St Peter's Church, Boughton Monchelsea
It was Barry Boulton's ambition to bring the London Welsh Male Voice Choir to his home village Boughton Monchelsea and sing at his church, St Peter's Church . Barry sings in the bass section, his son Peter sings in the
baritone section. This was fulfilled in a concert that was a sell out as demonstrated by our Musical Director Edward-Rhys Harry.
The setting for the concert could not have been better, the Church set on a hill
overlooking the Kent countryside with a deer park in the foreground. Our Chairman Keith Warren is seen here enjoying the delightful setting.
The concert was enjoyed by the audience in the packed church. There was the usual problem in a church of space for the choir but Edward-Rhys Harry our MD once again demonstrated his skill in getting the best from the choir. We were pleased to welcome back Rosalind Jones as our guest accompanist, Ros was our official accompanist from 1994 to 2003.
We were also pleased to welcome our President Philip Madoc to the concert and he is seen here enjoying the pre concert tea with some choristers.
Jennifer Thompson, soprano, accompanied by Jacky Kirby performed two solo spots and added a new dimension of interaction with the choir in some of her songs.
Hannah Boulton had a very special solo spot, she is the daughter of Peter Boulton from the Baritones and grand daughter of Barry Boulton the concert organiser. She sang a delightful rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables, accompanied by Janet Stone.
Iorwerth Pritchard, from the choir Bass section was our other soloist and sang a polished version of 'Old Man River' which delighted the audience.
As usual David Williams, Baritone, sang the solo in the ever popular 'Working Man' and Berwyn Evans held the concert together as compere in his own inimitable style
