THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL, LONDON
The London Welsh Male Voice Choir is the organiser of the grand biennial London Welsh Festival of Male Choirs held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. It was the first Choir to organise such a Male Voice Festival, originally known as the “1000 Voices”.
This Festival was first held in 1969 and repeated in 1970. Since then a Festival has been held every two years. Though fundamentally a Welsh Festival and attracting choirs from all over Wales, we are pleased that choirs from England, Ireland, and Scotland as well as from Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Slovenia, South Africa and the USA, have participated in this wonderful gala of song. One by-product has been that songs from the Festival have filtered into the repertoires of male choirs from afar and the Welsh language is being heard and appreciated in many corners of the world.
