On Wednesday 8th April two members of our chorister family, John Downing MBE and Berwyn Evans passed away after long periods of ill health. Both were members of the Bass Section and both are irreplaceable.
John Downing was Chief Photographer on the Daily Express with a career that spanned over five decades and took him to over 100 countries.
He won numerous awards including the British Press Photographer of the year on an unprecedented seven times.
John was also our Choir photographer providing many of the photographs appearing in our website.
Berwyn Evans was a Civil Engineer who spent a large proportion of his career overseas Project Managing major tunneling projects including sections of the Hong Kong Mass Transit System.
Berwyn was an inspirational and founding member of the Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir and on his return to U.K. he joined the London Welsh Male Voice Choir and served as Chairman 2001 – 2004.
We are truly grateful for the service, love, fun, energy and commitment that both choristers brought to the London Welsh Male Voice Choir.
